"I was hooked on wildlife photography after photographing Dall Sheep on Denali's Mt. Margaret in September of 1997. I was lucky enough to be up there with Gary Alt, a pro from Pennsylvania. I knew the country and the animals; Gary knew photography. Needless to say, I learned a fair bit during that shoot, first and foremost to always bring enough film into the field: After shooting up all of my Velvia, Gary was handing me one of his fifty roles of Provia he had lugged up the mountain. After that memorable session, I was shooting Bull Moose from sixty feet and seeking out various species to photograph, much as a hunter seeks his trophy with a rifle."
