I love birds. They are one of my favorite subjects to watch, to spend time with, and to photograph. While in south Florida, I was very fortunate to meet world-famous bird photographer, Arthur Morris. I was most impressed with Art because he knows birds. Art's work has been the most inspirational to my own because of his great passion for and knowledge of his subject. Many things "clicked" (pun intended) for me after studying with Art. A whole new world of equipment and technique opened up to me, and I found myself crawling around in the muck of southwest Florida's beaches to approach beautiful wading birds in breeding plumage and loving every minute of it. There is nothing in North America like the squawking of thousands of herons, egrets, and shorebirds at places like Tigertail Beach and Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. I have come to dub these areas the "Serengeti of the Bird World".
